Contest: How do you make new friends at school? Do you introduce yourself to other teens who you don't know? Whether you are new to a school or returning this fall, finding friends can be difficult. Teens often feel shy when approaching other teens. Just remember, if you are feeling shy, they probably are too!

I make new friends at school by introducing myself and we usually end up talking about stuff that we both have in common. I am very shy but I decided to just say hi to other people that are in grade nine and hopefully make a lot of friends and it worked!

That is a great way to make new friends. Everyone is a little shy; all it takes is for someone to take the first step by introducing themselves.

1. Be approachable, smile. People are less intimidated when you smile.
2. Offer to show new students around the school. It's a good way to start a conversation and see if you have anything in common.
