Learn exactly how to take care of your hearing aids.
You know how important they are so make sure you take good care of them!

If dropped hearing aids will break!
Hearing aids can be damaged if you drop them! Make sure your hearing aids are held over a soft surface when you clean them or when you change batteries or fiddle with them at all. That way if you get butter fingers and drop them it's less likely they'll be broken.

Batteries are poisonous!
Keep batteries away from your little bro or sis because they are poisonous (THE BATTERIES!). When the batteries are used up and you are going to chuck them, be careful about how you do it.

Tell an adult as soon as your hearing aid sounds different.
You should definitely tell an adult if you think your hearing aid sounds different than usual. An adult can listen to the hearing aid though a Widex Listening Set or other protective listening tube and figure out if service or adjustments are necessary.

Keep your hearing aids away from pets!
Dogs will eat anything and cats will probably play with them like a mouse which is definitely not cool.

Hair dryers or hairspray are bad for hearing aids!
Hair dryers blow REALLY hot air and the chemicals in hairsprays can really mess up your hearing aids. Take your hearing aids out before getting styled.

Water and hearing aids don't mix!
Hearing aids should never be exposed to water. Take them out before bathing, dancing in the rain, or taking a dip. Also, water or fluids of any kind should not be used to clean the hearing aids. Water can be used to clean the earmoulds when they are disconnected from the hearing aids.

Use a clean, dry cloth to clean your hearing aids - never water!
Your hearing aids should be wiped with a clean, dry cloth every day! If you don't clean them they might not work as well and hey, let's face it, it's nasty. Do not use fluids of any kind to clean the hearing aids. You can clean the earmoulds with water when they are disconnected from the hearing aids.

Careful!! Extreme heat can hurt your hearing aids!!
Some of the stuff inside hearing aids can be damaged by extreme heat. Never leave your hearing aids in direct sunlight on a windowsill or a car window shelf or anywhere they might sit in the blazing sun.

Leave surgery on your hearing aids to the Pros!
It's a mystery how hearing aids work. You might be tempted, but do not try and take them apart and put them back together. It might be fun but you'll probably break them! If something is wrong with your hearing aids, bring them to a pro.

Keep your hearing aids in a safe place when not in use
When you aren't using your hearing aids, keep them in their sweet, comfy case.

Sweat isn't good for hearing aids!
Sweat and humidity aren't good for aids. You might not see the damage but you can prevent it by using a hearing aid dehumidifier, like the one you got with your Widex hearing aids.
