Alberta

This university offers programs in Visual Communication Design (VCD) and Industrial Design (ID) at the undergraduate and graduate level. They also offer studies in Drawing/Intermedia, Painting, Printmaking, and Sculpture. There is also a course of study that focuses on the History of Art, Design, and Visual Culture.

British Columbia

This visual arts program is a balance between the study and practice of visual art in various media (drawing, painting, print media, sculpture, photography, digital and new media arts) and the academic work (including art history).

Manitoba

The Production Art program covers all aspects of the print media industry, from concept and computer art, to a completed printed project. There are courses in graphic design and typology, web page design, computer technology and software and advanced imaging techniques, to name a few.

Nova Scotia

Located in the heart of the historic district of Halifax, this program has much to offer. It is one of the oldest visual arts programs in North America. They offer undergraduate and graduate degrees, as well as a certificate program in photography and in computer graphics.

Prince Edward Island

With a focus on Art History, this program examines on the role of visual arts in the development of human society. It is a blend of history courses, especially Western art, as well courses in architecture, sculpture, painting, and the minor/decorative arts.

Quebec

Ontario

This is the first and largest program in Ontario that offers the Bachelor of Design Honours degree. It is a four-year University degree delivered jointly by York University and Sheridan College. Graduates from this program have found placements in top design firms, have gone on to national and international graduate study programs, and many have a high rate of self-employment.
