My Operation

Here is how I went from average to awesome! I was just a regular mannequin until one day my life changed forever. After spending years in the front display window of a store, modeling the latest fashions, I was 'retired' and sent to a storehouse for 'used mannequins'. How bad is that, from rocking the hottest clothes to a dusty old box in a warehouse!

Then, I was rescued and given a new lease on life. Looking back I'm really happy with how things turned out because now I can help people all over Canada. My new friends at Widex completed an 'operation' that replaced my old plastic ear with a new, special ear that can actually measure sound.

Now I am wired with a sound level meter attached to my new 'ear'. A music player's earbud connected to a personal stereo can be inserted into my ear and the loudness level can be recorded so kids can see exactly how loud their music is. My job now is to visit schools and help kids learn about 'how loud is too loud'. Most kids are shocked at how loud their own stereos really are and how much damage they could be doing to their hearing!

Here are some pics of my amazing transformation:

If you would like to make your own loudness level measurement mannequin, the instructions are available for free here. They dreamed up someone like me in the first place!
